Emergency & Other Resources

If you or someone you care about is facing a life-threatening emergency, including a threat of injury to self or someone else, call 911 immediately.

For assistance with suicidal thoughts or crisis, dial 988 for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or contact the Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas at 214-828-1000 or www.sccenter.org.

If you or someone you care about is experiencing a mental health crisis, please be aware of these local resources as good places to look for the support you need:

  • Your Primary Care Physician. PCPs can rule out potential medical causes for symptoms and help with a referral in the right direction for the appropriate level of care.

  • Your local county’s mental health service provider. For example, Collin County's mental health services are provided free or on a sliding scale by LifePath. Visit www.lifepathsystems.org for more information about the many services LifePath offers.

  • The Crisis TextLine. Text HELP to 741741 to text with a trained crisis worker for free.

  • Your local county's mobile crisis team. In Collin County, the mobile crisis team can be reached at 877-422-5939.

  • Your local behavioral hospital. In the McKinney area, adults can receive treatment at Medical City Behavioral Health McKinney (855-341-1025). Carrollton Springs in Carrollton (972-382-5855) is another recommended option for adults. For child or adolescent behavioral hospital care, consider Carrus Health in Sherman (903-870-2600).

  • Your local Emergency Room. As with a medical emergency, any ER can assess and transfer patients to appropriate providers for urgent behavioral health intervention.
